To Boldly Build

I saw this first on AICN, so they get the plug. Here’s the first image of the new Enterprise being built from the new J.J. Abrams Star Trek movie reboot. Whoops, no it’s probably not for the film, but just specifically for the teaser trailer everyone is claiming is before Cloverfield this weekend. (Haven’t seen the movie yet, haven’t seen the trailer.) I stole the pic and you can see it now (click to embiggen):

I got burnt out on ST years ago, yet I still think Deep Space Nine was one of the best TV shows ever. I’m probably stale coming in with this opinion: I think the reboot is a great idea, but I’ve never seen Felicity, Alias, Lost, nor M:I:III, so I have no attachment to Abrams like other fans do.

I would say I’m mildly interested in checking out the film. Possibly a good trailer — or maybe even this teaser once I see it — will stir up some old memories and get me genuinely excited. The pic — eh. It looks good, but it’s what I expected — a swanky reboot on the classic starship. I mean, how could they change the entire look of the Enterprise for a new film? Sounds like there’s a budget behind the film and good F/X, so it ain’t Star Trek V. So, interest piqued. Excitement not. Yet, anyway. Still keeping my fingers crossed.

Screen Rant has a good geek analysis of the new ship.
